Dr. Richard Epstein’s article in the Viewpoints column titled "APA Election Rules" in the September 15 issue purports to be a commentary on the issues raised by the APA Ad Hoc Committee to Review Election Policies and Procedures. In fact, the article is an expression of Dr. Epstein’s views on the Elections Committee and the election guidelines, not a response to our article. Our article was an announcement of a poll of the membership to assess their opinions of election guidelines. We feel our article presented a fair and balanced view of the arguments in favor of guidelines and the arguments against any guidelines at all.
